- 12/13/09 - 90210's school paper just got a hot new faculty adviser! [...] Hal Ozsan has nabbed the high-profile recurring role. [...] Showrunner Rebecca Sinclair reveals: [The upcoming Gia-Adriana relationship] isn't a fling. We're coming at this relationship from a genuine place and not going, 'Let's do a titillating story that will grab some promotion.' This is a real aspect of teenager life that's interesting. [...] The breakup [with Navid] certainly shook [Adriana] up and made her sort of more open to the possibilities of what will make her happy. But this isn't a direct rebound like, "Oh, I'm going to go be with a girl now." [The flirtation] starts from Gia's side. She becomes Adrianna's friend through AA. And then she develops a crush on her, and Adrianna is initially freaked out. But then she starts to question her own feelings. Naomi, predictably, has some outrageous opinions. She thinks the best thing about fooling around with another girl is how much guys would love it. And Silver, being more sophisticated, is like, "What's the big deal? If you like somebody and you feel attracted to them, what is holding you back?" But once we get past the "gayness" of it all, it's really just a story about two people connecting. I don't think it all has to be about gender politics. Frankly, it'd be great if everyone on the show was bisexual. It would provide lots of interesting combinations. - 12/13/09 - 90210 is looking for a movie star but, let's face it, will probably have to settle for a sitcom star from the 80's. The CW's second-time-around soap is finally introducing Teddy's (Trevor Donovan) dad, Spence Montgomery, a major film star in his 50's who is (no surprise here) very charismatic. He'll work for at least four episodes and the series is looking to cast only someone who is well known. [...] They show is also looking to bring in a famous pop star named Jonah, who'll romance one of the series regulars for at least three episodes. - 12/13/09 - We're going to have ourselves a good old-fashioned suicide attempt in the zip code! Without sounding morbid, the offing method is pretty cool, and while it won't be successful, it will spell the end of one main character's time on the show. [...] Scott Patterson, who played Luke, Lorelai's on-again, off-again love interest on Gilmore Girls, has joined the cast of 90210, TVGuide.com has learned. Patterson will play Jack, the biological father of West Bev badboy Liam. Patterson will appear in multiple episodes when the CW teen soap returns in 2010. Jack comes to L.A. after a stint in prison, looking to earn some seed money and settle down by opening a tackle shop on the marina. In other news, the Adriana and Gia ladylove storyline starts when 90210 returns from hiatus, and Navid will wonder if he made Adrianna gay. (Apparently he isn't aware how such things work!) I'm told that Silver and Teddy develop a full-fledged relationship, but of course, they will have their complications... - 11/01/09 - A character will be experimenting with her sexuality this season on 90210, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Recurring guest star Rumer Willis, who plays the lesbian character Gia, will bring out a new romantic side in Adrianna. A relationship will unfold for the pair in an episode slated for January. "This isn't a fling," executive producer Rebecca Sinclair told Entertainment Weekly. "We're coming at this from a genuine place and not going, 'Let's do a titillating story that will grab some promotion.' This is a real aspect of teenager life that's interesting ... And there's been a real void in the 90210 universe in terms of gay and bisexual characters." [...] Kelly Lynch has signed on to 90210 to play a new love interest to English teacher Ryan Matthews, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Lynch will play Laurel, a fortysomething, pot-smokin' hottie who has a whirlwind romance with Matthews (Ryan Eggold). She has quite a history under her belt, as evidenced by her colorful stories about various rock stars and celebrities. There is, of course, more to Laurel than at first appears. She believes in free love, the environment, the power of music, legalized marijuana, and her daughter Ivy, whom she sees as her greatest triumph. Once a radical Berkley student whose goal was to sleep with all the Rolling Stones, Laurel is now an enormously successful music producer. Laurel is outrageously rich but she despises the normal trappings of wealth. She wouldn't be caught dead in fur or a private plan or carrying some designer handbag. For her it's all about turquoise and beat up blue jeans and a maybe a leather jacket from East West Musical Instruments. Laurel lives in a sprawling home in Topanga Canyon which at all times is filled with various boyfriends and other visitors -- musicians, a traveling Native American Shaman, yoga instructors, ex-Weathermen, and artists. She loves to write and sing and paint and drink and smoke and have sex . Laurel is creative and loving and a hell of a lot of fun but also selfish and irresponsible and immature.
